Soar Above Your Limits by Pastor Mike
Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town. There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way. When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. But the people were displeased. “He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,” they grumbled. Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!” Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”
Luke 19:1-10 NLT.
Wow! What a beautiful motivating story, that proves with determination, perseverance and deliberate actions, we can achieve success.
It serves as a beacon of hope, an encouragement to all who dares to dream; who wouldn’t allow the negative influence of the crowd quench their drive to succeed.
We are living in a world that is so prejudicial, terribly skewed to inhibit us, filled with hostile people who are so judgmental.
Satan who is running the system of this world (John 12:31), will do whatever he can to subjugate us to a life of lack, sickness, endless failures and hopelessness. For, after all, his mission is to still, kill and destroy (John 10:10).
Fortunately, Jesus has a better plan for us, an excellent future, a blessed hope with endless opportunities (Her 29:11). He came that we may have life in abundance. It’s his will that we prosper and be in health, even as our soul prospers.
Do you allow your God-given Desire to be swallowed or submerged by the crowd or prevailing circumstances?
Are your natural handicaps or shortcomings such as Short stature or even financial status limiting you from being the best God desires for you?
Or do you, like Zacchaeus, despite all those limiting or hindering circumstances, launch out ahead of everyone to your dreams?
Are you passionate enough to humble yourself like this man, despite his riches, to climb a tree to the top?
Do you have ambition that refuses to succumb to the status quo or defy your past mistakes to get God’s best through linking with the glorious Lord, Jesus Christ?
God has made provisions for all his children in Christ Jesus. You can’t reach your full potentials without his enablement.
Adam typifies how God caters for his children; even before he was made, all that he will ever need were already in place. The garden of Eden overflowed with abundance of resources, enough to eat and drink, limitless living.
God is still the same yesterday, today and forever, he can never change; in Christ we have a better condition than Adam had in the garden.
A whole new vista of opportunities will open up for you if you encounter Jesus Christ.
God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think.
So have you started taking advantage of our endowment in Christ? Maybe you lack the desire to go beyond the natural and switch on to the supernatural. Or perhaps you are not even aware we should do exploits and attain great heights in Christ.
Whatever that might be the case, I urge you to fan into flame the gift of God that is in you by fervently praying this prayer (2 Timothy 1:6-7):
Dear Lord, thank you for all you have done for me in Christ Jesus. I’m so grateful you have made me a new creature, empowered to do exploits in your name. I affirm your word that I can do all things through your enablement (Phil 4:13). I believe that through my faith in you, as I speak to any mountain standing in my way, they will be removed and cast into the sea (Matt 21:21). With You Lord, I am forgiven, redeemed and restored to exercise dominion authority in Jesus Christ mighty name.
Amen🙏
