Our Help Is From The Lord By Pastor Mike.
Jesus went into the synagogue again and noticed a man with a deformed hand. Since it was the Sabbath, Jesus’ enemies watched him closely. If he healed the man’s hand, they planned to accuse him of working on the Sabbath. Jesus said to the man with the deformed hand, “Come and stand in front of everyone.” Then he turned to his critics and asked, “Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him. He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So, the man held out his hand, and it was restored! At once the Pharisees went away and met with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus.
Mark 3:1-6 NLT.
An incredible display of compassion!!!
Jesus always seizes every opportunity to reveal the love of God for humanity.
He is undeterred by the antagonism. Though, He was displeased by their hardened hearts.
Furthermore, this story holds a great lesson for us, on what is more important: Love supersedes everything else. And showing love is more vital than observing any protocol. Jesus will want us to go out of our way to demonstrate love: Be the good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37).
Man in his fallen state is incapable of loving anyone. He is Self-conceited. And desperately wicked.
Sin plunged the world into a ruthless abyss. Survival of the fittest became the norm. Leaving everyone to be about their interest.
So, don’t be surprised if no one wants to lift a finger to help. It’s even foolhardy to rely on men. You may end up terribly disappointed:
Yes, the Lord is for me; he will help me. I will look in triumph at those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.
Psalms 118:7-9 NLT.
Let it sink in: all genuine help comes from the Lord. He alone cares for us. And He always has our best interest:
I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.
Psalms 121:1-3 NKJV.
Do you have any adversity that seems to have defied all solutions? Have you been let down by those you thought can help you? Are you overwhelmed by the immense wickedness in the world?
I bring you good news: Jesus is here for you. He is the most faithful friend you can ever have. You should go to him in prayers, presenting your cares to him:
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
1 Peter 5:7 NLT.
I encourage you to pray this prayer to receive the help only the Lord Jesus Christ offers:
Thank you, Jesus, for your love for me. You said we should come to you with all our troubles. Therefore, Lord, I come now to receive help. Deliver me from all evil designed against me. I also receive the ability to love my neighbors as myself. Thank you for answering me.
